The Sketcher

The Sketcher Logo

The Sketcher is an entertaining game in Wario Ware style where you will have to draw the different shapes that will appear for a certain period of time. Your main objective is to draw these shapes as fast and accurately as possible before your time runs out to get more points.

The game features 3 game modes (although they are actually 5, since once you finish the Easy and Normal mode, the difficulty increases, and you’ll have less time but also earn more points the more accurate is your drawing) and over 50 entertaining and challenging shapes to draw.

Victor Corvalan took care of the programming and graphics, the musician Ronny Antares did an excellent job as it cost a lot to find a music theme that fits to the game and also gives it certain personality.

The development of the game took a week and a half, and from there it was just a matter of adjusting the game difficulty, select the music, sound effects and so on. We tried to adjust the game’s difficulty till we couldn’t do anything else, practically since the beginning of the development until the day before the game premiere… and still we never get to make everyone happy :/ … for some people it was too easy, and for others, too hard.

Fat Fish

Two months ago we published Fat Fish, the Flash version. Originally the game was developed with the Fenix compiler (similar to DIV2 Game Studio) in the year 2004 to participate in the “Summer 2004” contest organized by the now gone DivNet, which consisted in creating a game with a summer theme. Fat Fish got the first place in that contest and won the Golden Umbrella! :D

Gold Umbrella

In this game you control a species of killer piranha with an insatiable stomach, ready to devour everything that falls into the sea… in this case: the “almost-zombies”. Originally, the “almost-zombies” were happy bathers who threw themselves into the sea, but in order to make the game less violent and avoid harming the sensibility of some people, we decided to call the bathers “almost-zombies” (nobody will get mad or offended for killing a almost-zombie, right?) but we left them with the same appearance… then finally we added a zombie look by giving the bathers a greener face, scars, etc. (just in case).

Almost-Zombies

Almost-Zombies

But the mini-game doesn’t end there, the main character feels the natural need to make poo-poo like any other animal after eating, luckily for him, he counts with his loyal friend… a toilet in the bottom of the sea! As you go killing almost-zombies, our fat fish will fill up and will gradually lose his ability/speed, and to recover it, you will have to use the toilet which will dedicate you from time to time some little words…

Kill them all!!

Kill them all!!

The idea to add the toilet to the game occurred newly during the game’s development, when the bathers were already falling and the fish could kill them… something else was missing to add our signature to the game, and while Victor was “downloading himself” in the bathroom, the little light bulb lit, and with farts as trumpets of victory he thought out to add the toilet ^_^

The game has 4 mini-games:
- A solitaire Killer: You have to kill more “almost-zombies” than the other fish.
- Fish are hungry: Same objective, but the other fish can kill you.
- Kill before they escape: You have to kill “almost-zombies” before they arrive to the bottom.
- Simon says… Kill him!: The toilet will tell you who you have to kill.

To finish this post, we must to add that we didn’t stay satisfied with the final result, we betrayed a lot the original idea of the game; for starters, the graphics of this flash version look very polished compared to the original version which was somewhat more bizarre/grotesque and the almost-zombies ended up being real zombies… the “feeling” of the game just isn’t the same… anyway. We have a lot more to improve if we decide to make a sequel.
